This Week's News

Open Evenings

The Holy Cross Open Evening took place here at St Joseph's last week. There is an Open Evening at St Joseph's, Horwich this Tuesday from 5 - 7 pm for parents and children who may be interested in attending St Joseph's, Horwich in the future.

Harvest Mass

The parish Harvest Mass will take place on Sunday 15th October at 9.30 am Mass. Harvest baskets will be collected in school during the weeks leading up to this date and will be distributed to people in the parish afterwards. If there is anyone known to you who would appreciate a Harvest gift, please let us know.

PTFA

There is a meeting of the PTFA on Thursday 28th September at 2 pm in school.

Harvest!

We have had a bumper crop of pumpkins, onions, cabbage, potatoes, peas, carrots, aubergines and sweetcorn this year. The children have enjoyed using the vegetables to make tasty soup in Mr Smith Hughes' slow cooker. We are looking forward to growing more produce in our school garden and we may even be able to share some with parents. Please see the photographs below which were taken in the Summer holidays.

School Council Elections

These have taken place and we have a new School Council in Year 6 - well done to Jessica, Dylan U, Holly, Joseph, Teal, Daniel, Niamh, Michael, Eve, Oscar, Jorja and Issabelle. Year 5 – Elis & Taylor, Year 4 – James & Charlotte, Year 3 Jack & Evie and Year 2 – Stanley & Hannah.

Uniform – The website to order uniform from is www.slater-schoolwear.co.uk. Orders can be delivered to home (for a small charge) or delivered to school. As the weather is getting warmer (finally), please can you ensure that your child has their name on jumpers/cardigans as the children are taking them off and trying to reunite pupils to belongings is a great challenge if they are not named.

Road Safety – If your child walks to/from school, please ensure that they use the crossing patrol at the crossroads and understand to check all routes before crossing. There have been several reports of pupils crossing busy roads unsupervised (particularly at the Co-op) which could result in a serious accident.

Office Hours - The school office is closing every day from 9.30am – 11am. This is to allow Mrs MacLeod to have some uninterrupted time to focus on office duties. We will review this if need be, but in the meantime thank you for your understanding.
