                                          This Week’s Success Stories

SATs Results – We are very proud of our Yr 6 children and their SATs successes this week. All of the hard work that the children  have put in has resulted in great results. Well done to all of the children and staff who helped to prepare them for the tests.

Summer Fair The PTFA would like to send out a big ‘Thank You’ to all of those that supported us at the Summer Fair, raising £1515. A special thank you to the 47 parent, teacher and governor volunteers who helped either on the night and/or before hand. The winners of the PTFA volunteers raffle where Jemma Law, Fiona Lamle, Sian Cunliffe, Reka Simon-Toth and Mrs Pearson.

Attendance – Well done on achieveing overall attendance at 97%, this is great to see. Thank you for your continued support.

Collective Worship –“ We must not fail to help our neighbours, because in them we are serving Jesus” – St Rose of Lima

We Are Reading There is one really clear predictor of whether a child will do well in school and that is if they’re a reader of their own volition. Surely our real challenge is how we get children to be readers and carry on reading into their teenage years and beyond.” – Simon Smith.

Outstanding Payments – Please can you ensure that ALL outstanding payments have been cleared before the Summer close, in particular any school dinner arrears.

Ear Piercing – As earrings are not allowed to be worn in school, please ensure that any ears being pierced during the Summer break are done in the first week, to allow them to heal before returning to school in September.

PTFA Sponsored Fun Run, Pre- Booked PTFA Breakfast – This will all take place next Tuesday 16th July during the school day. All children can come to school in their own sportswear with suitable footwear to complete their run around the track. The children will be running at the times below and parents/carers are warmly invited to come and cheer them on as they complete their run. Please remember to sponsor your child/ren and encourage family and friends to do so too!

Class Fun Run times as follows:- Class 6 - 9.45 am, Class 5 - 10.15 am, Class 4 – 10.45am, Class 3 – 11.15 am,

Class 2 – 1.30 pm, Class 1 – 2 pm and Reception – 2.30pm.

PTFA Own Clothes Day – Thursday 18th July, this is for a £1 donation to the PTFA and all pupils who contribute will be entered into a raffle with some lovely prizes to be won (payment can me made online).

After School Clubs –There will be NO after school clubs next week. Please make arrangements for pupils to go home at 3.15pm.

May Bank Holiday 2020 – To commemorate VE day, the early May Bank Holiday next year has been moved from 4th May to Friday 8th May, as such we have moved our school openings to this effect. Please ensure when booking holidays that you make a note of this change.

Healthy Snacks – Please can we remind parents that children can bring one snack to school which does not include sweets, crisps or chocolate bars? We are a healthy school and are educating the children to make healthy choices.

PSHE Week – w/c 15th July. As part of our PSHE week we are encouraging the children to walk/cycle/scoot to school where possible.

Collecting your child from school If you usually collect your child from school and you have made alternative arrangements for them to go home with another parent, perhaps for tea or a party, please can you send a note in to this effect for the class teacher?

PE Kit – We are launching a new PE kit from September which will be available from stockists over the summer. It can be worn from September onwards. Please note that this is not compulsory and is being phased in as and when you need to replace your child/ren’s PE Kit.

Book bags in KS2 – Please can children in Yrs 3 & 4 continue to use the school KS2 reading bags which are provided by our uniform stockists? Children in Yrs 5 & 6 can use a small, non branded rucksack.

School Reports – These will be sent home with your child/ren on 18th July.

Ukulele Lessons – Some parents have asked if children can be offered ukulele lessons in school. As we already offer several other instruments as part of our music provision we cannot accommodate another instrument at this stage. However, parents can enrol directly with the Lancashire Music Service and arrange individual tuition which can take place during school time. Please see the following information from the music service.

Parental Direct Payment Scheme (PDP) - The Parental Direct Payment scheme allows parents to pay the Music Service directly for instrumental and vocal tuition. The lessons are delivered in school. • Lessons are usually delivered in small groups and are a minimum of 20 minutes • Individual lessons are also available • Students will need to provide their own instrument (rental available from Lancashire Music Service if required) • Students have access to online resources to support their instrumental learning through Charanga Music World • New students start lessons at the beginning of each half term (please see page 3 for application form deadlines) Enrol online at www.lancashiremusichub.co.uk/enrol
