Collective Worship – “Advent is a time to prepare our hearts to receive Jesus” – Pope Francis

We are Reading Books are the plane, and the train, and the road. They are the destination, and the journey. They are home.” - Anna Quindlen

Uniform- We are very proud of how smart our children look in their uniforms and we thank you for your support in this. We have noticed, particularly in KS2 that some children are wearing earrings and nail varnish to school which is not part of our uniform. Earrings must not be warn in school at all for health and safety reasons. Please can parents check that earrings and nail varnish have been removed each morning?

Head Lice – Please can we request that parents are vigilant in checking their children for head lice as part of the usual hygiene routing to minimise the spread of head lice in school.

Scholastic Book Fair – This will be available after school on Monday and will be open during Parents’ Evening on  Tuesday. Please come and have a look at the wonderful selection of books available. Some books are proving quite popular amongst the children who have already looked at the fair. However, if the books that you/your child wanted have sold, please do not worry as we can still order additional copies, please just ask a member of staff.

St. Joseph’s Music Group The next Saturday Family Mass will be on 7th December. Preparation for this Mass and Christmas Vigil will be in church on Tuesdays 26th November, 3rd, 10th and 17th December, at 7 pm. All welcome, especially any younger parishioners from Primary and Secondary school who would like to join us.

Outdoor Learning Days – Year 5 have had their outdoor learning day today and will have got to explore many activities. The children who have experienced their outdoor learning days so far have thoroughly enjoyed their outdoor experiences: getting dirty; planting seeds; making willow stars & pomanders; bird feeders; clay cartouches; playing hide & seek and toasting marshmallows over the fire pit amongst other things.

Premier Logs, Blackrod – Thank you to Premier Logs who have kindly donated wood, kindling and equipment for our outdoor learning firepit. Premier Logs Ltd, A6 Blackrod By-Pass, Blackrod, Bolton, BL6 5HX Tel 01257 475914.

This is also Christmas dinner day for the children who normally have a school meal on Fridays. If your child has a packed lunch normally on a Friday, they are welcome to have a Christmas dinner but this must be pre- booked and paid for at the office at a cost of £2.10.     50:50 Club – Please remember to return your requests and payment so that the first draw can take place. Eco-bricks – Please keep sending these into school, this week we have made 5 stools for the outdoor classroom and we would like to make a table, so please keep filling the bottles at home. The bottles must be filled with single use, clean plastic waste and must weigh 500g.
