This Week’s Success Stories

WELL DONE The School has been awarded Platinum Award for the School Games Mark! This is a Government led award scheme, launched in 2012, to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across the school and into the community. A big thank you to staff and the PTFA who plan and organise sporting events for the children . A very special thank you to Mr Merrick, PE Co-ordinator, who gives much of his own time taking the children to matches and sporting events

Competitions – Well done to all of the children who have represented the school in the last couple of weeks in football and Hi 5.

Collective Worship – “May we learn to be generous – to love without limits.” – Pope Francis

We are Reading – “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go. —Dr. Seuss

Brighten up the Harvest – Thank you to those who have returned the envelopes, we have raised £132.94 so far.

Eco-bricks – Please remember to collect and fill 2L soft drinks bottles to enable us to use them as eco bricks to build furniture for our outdoor classroom. The filled bottles must be filled with single use, clean plastic waste and must weigh 500g.

PTFA Halloween Drawing Competition – There have been some amazing entries into this competition so far. Closing date is 31st October so you can use your time over half-term to complete your picture and send it in after half-term - 50p entry

New Dinner Menu – A new dinner menu comes into effect after half-term, please see the school website or the copy emailed home today to see the meal choices available. We will be starting on Week 2.

New School Twitter Page “STJOSEPHSANDER2” – In order to share photographs of children on Twitter we require your consent. If you have not returned your consent for your child to appear on our Twitter page, please can you do so or contact school for a new form?

PTFA Uniform RecyclingThe PTFA are going to continue with their uniform recycling scheme. Any uniform in good, clean condition can be handed in to the office in a carrier bag, which will be passed onto the PTFA to be recycled. If you wish to purchase recycled uniform a form can be downloaded from our website and passed to the PTFA or dropped at the office.

Theatre TripsWe have booked for the whole school to have the opportunity to experience theatre productions this Christmas. Reception & Yr. 1 will visit The Lowry, Salford to see The Gruffalo’s Child“ and Yrs. 2-6 will visit the Liverpool Empire to see “Peter Pan”. Payment can be made online. More details to follow.

Cauliflower Cards – The children will be designing Christmas cards in school over the coming weeks. Their designs will be sent home to you in the first week back after half term to place orders if you wish. Orders must be placed online with Cauliflower cards and all designs returned to school by Tuesday 5th November. Any orders after this date must be ordered directly with Cauliflower Cards.

Year 4 “With you Always” – The first session will be held in the school hall at 6.30pm. All parents/carers of children who will be making the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Communion this year are expected to attend.

PTFA – Last year our PTFA raised £7552.52 of which £6734.52 was spent on enrichment activities for the children such as: transport for class trips; theatre productions in school; book bags for the new Reception class; theatre trips outside of school and science and history workshops within school. Without financial support from the PTFA, these activities would be at additional cost to parents so we are very reliant on the PTFA fundraising events to keep on providing such a rich array of curriculum activities.

Reception’s Stay and Read Session – This was a lovely event and well attended by parents. PTFA provided refreshments following the session. PTFA plan to organise refreshments after each class assembly in school to give parents the opportunity to stay and chat.
