The government is providing additional funding to improve the provision for physical education and sport in primary schools. This funding is ring-fenced and therefore can only be spent on provision of PE and sport in school. Each school receives £8000, plus £5 per pupil on roll. At St Joseph's, we pride ourselves on being a happy and healthy place to learn. We have  developed an action plan to ensure this funding is invested to maximise the long term impact of our PE provision for pupils and staff.

St Joseph's has been awarded Platinum Award for the School Games Mark. This is a Government led awards scheme, launched in 2012 to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community. Schools in England are able to assess themselves across bronze, silver and gold levels of the Mark. If a school achieves Gold status for four consecutive years, they are eligible to apply for Platinum. To achieve Platinum, we had to meet all of the criteria for Gold then submit some supporting information to our School Games Organiser, Gemma Stokes, from the Chorley Schools Sports Partnership - CSSP.
