This Week's News Science week fun with Professor Brainstorm.

We Are Reading There is one really clear predictor of whether a child will do well in school and that is if they’re a reader of their own volition. Surely our real challenge is how we get children to be readers and carry on reading into their teenage years and beyond.” – Simon Smith.

Adlington Library – Summer reading challenge starts on 29th June and runs until 28th September.

May Bank Holiday 2020 – To commemorate VE day, the early May Bank Holiday next year has been moved from 4th May to Friday 8th May, as such we have moved our school openings to this effect. Please ensure when booking holidays that you make a note of this change.

PE Kit – We are launching a new PE kit from September which will be available from stockists over the summer. It can be worn from September onwards. Please note that this is not compulsory and is being phased in as and when you need to replace your child/ren’s PE Kit.

Book bags in KS2 – Please can children in Yrs 3 & 4 continue to use the school KS2 reading bags which are provided by our uniform stockists? Children in Yrs 5 & 6 can use a small, non branded rucksack.

Music Lessons – Please see last week’s letter if your child wishes to take up individual ukulele lessons. Keyboard lesson are moving time and will be held 2.30pm – 5pm on Wednesdays and woodwind will be over Thursday lunchtimes. Also Mr Wesley has decided to reduce his timetable and his lessons will now be taught by Mr Woodward (current ukulele teacher) over Friday lunchtime. We would like to thank Mr Wesley for his many years of teaching guitar in school, he will be greatly missed by us all. More information with regards to exact lesson timings will be sent out in September.

  • Mrs Kirkham is selling a clarinet, if anyone wishes to buy it, please contact her directly.

The School Day – Please can we remind parents that teaching starts in school at 9 am, so to facilitate this your children need to be in class before 9 am for registration. The school bell will go at 8.50 am for the children to line up and come into school. From September the gates will be locked at 9 am. Any children arriving after this time will have to enter via the office and will receive a late mark.

Dates for your diary

4th September - School reopens to children @ 8.50am
