New Starters 2021 - 2022
New Intake September 2021
Welcome to St Joseph's Catholic Primary School
We are delighted that you and your child will be joining our school this coming September. On behalf of the Staff, Governors, children and parents, it gives us great pleasure to welcome you and your family to our school community.
Starting school is a milestone for both you and your child. It is a time to be celebrated and we will do everything we can to ensure it is a positive experience for everyone.
As a school, we are committed to smooth and timely transitions that allow each child to settle in, get to know their teachers and make new friends. With this in mind, we will be inviting you all to a number of events. These will begin with an Induction Meeting for parents on 9th June, followed by opportunities for the children to visit the school setting for transition sessions and a teddy bears' picnic. We hope these occasions will help prepare you all for the initial steps in your school journey and give the children the best possible start to their time at St Joseph's.
Over the coming days and weeks, we will post lots of useful information to this page including videos to meet the Early Years Team and virtual visits to see the Reception classroom and outdoor area.
Hopefully, the information on this page will answer many of the questions you may have about your child starting school with us but you can contact the Early Years Team directly with any queries by emailing:

Preparing for School
Many parents want to know how to get their child ‘School ready’ so below is a collection of websites, ideas and activities to help. However, it is important to remember that every child is unique and may learn at a different pace. The most important way to ensure a child is school ready is to promote independence, build confidence and encourage them to have an inquisitive mind, asking questions and engaging in conversations. This will develop their communication and language as well as their understanding of the world, which will help children be ready to learn when they start school.
